Member News Rawle Andrews, Jr., Esq. '11 (LM) will be sworn in as President-Elect of The Bar Association of D.C. on June 3. Gloria Aparicio-Blackwell '13 has been named to the Maryland Citizens Redistricting Commission, serving as their adviser on how redistricting relates to Maryland’s Hispanic and Latino community. The Bay Times and Record Observer has named Deborah A. “Deb” Keller ‘16 and Sandra S. “Sandy” Love ‘19 “Women to Watch” on the Eastern Shore. Governor Hogan has appointed Brenda J. McChriston ‘15 to a second term on the Maryland Commission for Women. She was also reelected to a second term on the board of the Better Business Bureau of Greater Maryland. Dr. Bradley "Brad" Phillips '21 is now Executive Director of the Maryland Association of Community Colleges. Dr. Patricia W. "Patty" Saelens '19 is now Superintendent of Queen Anne’s County Public Schools. Joan Webb Scornaienchi '15 (LM) was recently presented a Governor’s proclamation from Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford for HC DrugFree’s ongoing substance use education and medication disposal efforts, pictured below (R) with Joan and Howard County Executive Calvin Ball (L). Joan was also recognized by Ball and the Howard County Commission for Women as a Woman Making Positive Changes in Howard County as a part of the inaugural ‘So She Did’ Campaign. Dr. Derek L. Simmons ‘13 was named Interim Superintendent of Caroline County Public Schools. Tammi L. Thomas, MBA '18 (LM) was appointed to the Board of Directors of CHI which supports people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. The Baltimore Business Journal named Maureen L. van Stone, Esq., MS '12 one of its 2021 Leaders in Diversity Honorees. Stephen J. Woerner will serve a two-year term as the new chair of the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore.
